Do you know what it is, and why I've got it?
It is a Yaesu FT-817 qrp transceiver and I got it to pursue my amateur radio hobby.
The japanese are well known for their electronic products, and this gadget is a testament to the fine engineering from the country, a multi band HF, VHF and UHF radio packed with many bells and whistles in such a small package.
Ummm, no and no but I will guess anyhow:
ReplyDeleteIt's a satelite radio and you got it so you could listen to classic rock with no commericals?
A short-wave communication radio?
ReplyDeleteIt is a ham radio, low power backpack type radio. You have it probably because you are a licensed ham or you want to listen to shortwave or use it when you handglide across the uk to contact people....COOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThe last comment was right on the money! Felix was very close though.
ReplyDeleteSome years ago I worked in traffic with a QRP transceiver. I made a lot of QSO even with 5W. The most essential thing is the antenna.
